बलुतं हे वास्तव जीवनाचा कलात्मपूर्ण प्रत्यय आणून देणारे आत्मकथन असून त्यामुळे मराठी वाङ्मयात एक नवी मोलाची भर पडलेली आहे. मित्राशी हितगुज करावे अशा पद्धतीने या आत्मकथनाची लेखन रचना आणि निवेदनशैली आहे. त्यासाठी दया पवार यांनी साधी, सोपी, ओघवती व अनलंकृत भाषा वापरली आहे. कधीकधी ही भाषा काव्यात्म वळणही घेते.
