The Bhagavad-Gītã As It Is is a translation and commentary of the Bhagavad Gita Originally written by Maharishi Vedvyasa. Translated by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder of the international Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), commonly known as the Hare Krishna movement. It was first published in 1968 in English by Macmillan Publishers,
and is now available in nearly sixty languages.
The Bhagavad Gita is considered as the condensed form of complex philosophical texts, The Upanishads. It is said to have all the essence of Vedas. Bhagavad Gita means the Lord’s song, and it can be seen in the 11th chapter of the Indian epic, The Mahabharata. Gita is Lord Krishna’s conversation with his disciple Arjuna, on the Kurukshetra battlefield. This is
considered one of the important religious texts ofHinduism. But in my opinion, it can’t be just considered as a holy book for a single religion. It is a treasure house of wisdom that will help every person Irrespective of their caste, religion, and nationality.
Reading Bhagavad gita changes ones
perspective of looking at various things.
Gets them clarity, gets solutions to our various questions and also to the once we never thought we had. It is also said that there’s no such question who’s answer can’t be found in the Gita. It’s more like a manual of human life. For eg. When we Purchase a new electronic commodity we get a manual regarding what it is, how to use it, it’s purpose and many more. Similarly Gita is a manual of human life, it helps us understand what our life is, how to use it, it’s purpose, ultimate aim, and many more.
Bhagavad Gita has played a vital role in building up my character. I have read a multiple versions of Gita, each one is unique in it’s own way. This is a book that every human beings must read at least once in their life.
