“Build Don’t Talk: Things You Wish You were Taught in School” is a Self-help book authored by Raj Shamani. To understand the values, characters, or themes of a literary work, sometimes it is important to understand the author, Raj Shamani is a businessman or entrepreneur and a social media influencer with more than one million followers.
He is better known as a motivational speaker, who has given more than 200 plus speeches across 26 Countries around the globe. This book consists of 212 pages and is published by Penguin Random House India. The book has nearly 40 chapters, but the point is that those are short and sweet and highly practical!
The book starts with criticism of the education system. The book ends with explaining about the things that should have been taught in the School. The book mentions that school taught us specific subjects like maths and history. But we weren’t taught:
• how to sell
• or how to build relationships
• or how to take care of our mental health
• or how to deal with personal finance.
These are the most important situations we face as adults that were never discussed when we were students.
We weren’t taught these skills in school and this makes all the success stories we hear about seem out of reach. Your school taught you to run in the race; it didn’t teach you how to win. And that’s what this book is for.
Thing that I liked about this book is that whether it is business or investment or content creation or self-development, everything the author has got covered for you in one book! My personal favourite chapter from the book is, ‘Be Ready to Look stupid? Because it says, ‘the only thing that is stopping you from growing is the fear of looking stupid in front of people?
To summarise the book I could say, the book is fantastic. It is easy to understand as it is in simple words. Build Don’t Talk aims at making us realise the things that we should have learnt in school, but failed to do. And it fairly helps to understand how the world is! This Book by Raj Shamani is a must read for all age groups.
