This novel emphasizes the sensitive part of life that is understanding between the couples in a married life. How small things does matter in relations, how to make use of maturity on a proper time, and how to make a balance between ups and down in life. The narrator have return the book as if it’s own biography. The words and sentences he used in this novel satisfaction of understanding.
At the starting of the novel we feel this will take us to love and Chemistry between the couples but doesn’t happens. A narrator is the famous writer and he is busy in his daily routine, One day narrator finds that his wife “Esther” who is war correspondent live him with no trace. He gets no clue reason behind this. He thinks is she kidnapped blackmailed or simply bored with their marriage. But in real she wanted to follow her passions. But the arguments among them proved her that this marriage is a barrier for her passions. She made this decision you want if both were loving each other a lot.
So, the narrator suffered a loneliness after for wife left him.
In that phase he realize his true love for his wife. This phase make him think a lot about the truths of life. And he makes the decision to find his wife and for his own life. Starts from South America to Spain France croatia and eventually bleakly beautiful landscape of Central Asia. His journey for his wife taught him Many lessons about life, love, destiny.
In this journey he meet with his wives friend “Mikhail” who is another personality taught the narrator the most meaningful lessons and help him to go to her. In living with the different peoples and different places he found different meanings of life. Every step he was trying to understand behind the happening of all incidents. I like his one concept about the couples after marriage. From his understanding he says the couple after a marriages is just like a railway track. The two side can never overlap each other and always necessarily required some distance between them.
Means we need some space even if we are attached too closely.
Many more things he expressed in this novel, but mainly he focused on the meaning of true love and the nature of love. And the actual meaning of to “following our heart”.
