BOOK REVIEW
1. Introduction
• Title :- ATOMIC HABITS
• Author :- James Clear
• Genre: – “Atomic habits” is published in 2018 with wide range of popularity all over the world. It is basically a self- help, non-fiction book, which mostly focuses on self-development and building consistent habits over a long period of time.
• Initial Impression: – My friend gave me the book named “Atomic habits”, and I love reading self-help books than any other books, because they shaped our mental and emotional growth in our academic age. Firstly the book cover attracts me a lot as it is written the “International bestseller book”, it attracts me towards the book to check the actual content written in the book.
2. Summary
• “Atomic habits” is a different book than any other self-help books, because it is solely focuses on building small habits daily, than setting the goals. It says working on one small habit daily can create mastery in that work at the end of the year. It says that how tiny habits provide remarkable results. Use of real life experiences in the book, gives a feeling of connectivity.
• Key themes in the book include the power of small habits, the author gave a 4 law of behavior change, it talks about compounding results that compounding is not only applicable for money, it is also use for good and bad habits, then building systems rather than the goal creates a big difference in my thinking.
• The book helps us in every context of our life and we can apply its rules in each and every field, and any age group can read such kind of books who want to change their bad habits into a good ones or those men or women who want to build some consistency and discipline in their life to achieve success in one’s life. For student life it is the most value adding book in their age to achieve what they really want to, in their life by using simple but effective rules in day to day life.
• The book doesn’t focuses on any single character but it does focus on the people reading the book, as it is about self-growth, so it is all about the individual’s growth of a person by adding some principles in their life. But, it gives example of the bamboo shoot that how people see the extensive growth in just 6 weeks, but it takes 5 years for developing extensive root system, so such examples makes a difference.
• Book is written in a very simple language that any reader can easily understand the scientific approach in a clear and concise way. It engages the reader to read more about the concepts.
• The book is more about personal growth, and how law of attraction applies in our life. It says that if you have a bad habit of anything then start with building a small habit daily to change it into a good habit. Simply make the things easy, attractive and obvious to achieve.
• “Habit Stacking” is the most important part of book. That says your actions is a vote for the person you want to become. Suppose you want to be an entrepreneur then start exploring ideas, start thinking in that path, watch the videos of such personalities, start hanging with such entrepreneurial mindset friends, and eventually you will start moving towards your dream.
• The main motive of the book as per my opinion is that if you want a positive change in your life, then start small with daily consistent efforts on a single task to achieve the remarkable results after some time. I understand that it’s ok to have goal and dreams in your life but it is necessary to actually implement it in your practical life requires dedication, efforts and consistency.
• I believe that this book helped me personally to shape my overall personality from inside out, to understand my actual purpose of dreaming and achieving big in my life. It gives me a real framework to improve my attitude towards looking at my goals.
3. Strength and weakness
• The book gives real life applications of building habits, so it looks more relatable to everyone. It also provides a step by step guideline to achieve our dream in certain period of time. The way of explaining scientific theories in more easy way is the greatest strength of the book.
• As per my point of view the repetition of some points for number of times with adding some different flavors to it, defining the same value provides a less attachment to that book and solely focus on word “habit” can provide more importance to specific idea.
4. Personal Reflection
• I connected with the book by just reading some initial 2-3 pages which give me some extraordinary impression about the book, and also it helps me to become a better person day by day by eliminating some bad habits and building new ones.
• The book connects to today’s era, where we are surrounded with a lot of distractions and bad habits which destroys our life and our dreams; this book is a savior to all the peoples who want to achieve great heights in their life.
5. Conclusion
• I would highly recommend the book “Atomic habits” to the students specifically because this book provides a specific guideline to achieve their goals in student’s life. And also to anyone who wants to be successful in their life but are not being consistent in their life, can read this book.
• I would rate this book 5/5 because of its value added life lessons, and simple techniques to follow daily without much efforts. So, it’s my favorite self-help book to achieve more in life.
• At the end I will refer this book to many of my friends and persons who love reading such genres. It actually transforms individual’s life and creates a huge impact on our materialistic thinking.
