Animal Farm is an allegory written by George Orwell and first published
in England on 17 August 1945. It deals with the story of a group of farm
animals. The farm consisted of different animals like pigs, dogs, cows,
horses, hens, goats, etc. The cows gave lots of milk, but all were taken by
human, without considering the needs of calves. Same happens with
eggs, hens gave hundreds of eggs, but all were sold in the market, leaving
none for hatching. Horses bore foals, but they were sold in the market for
money instead of letting them happily live with their parents. All the
work get done by animals, but they were in miserable condition. They
had nothing to eat. On the other hand, the owner use to beat them. They
were unhappy with their owner, Mr. Jones. So, they come together to
throw out their owner, Mr. Jones. On the whole they intend to create a
society where all animals are equal. At initial state they work together.
However, very soon they start abuse other animals. So the other animals
understand that their leader, Napoleon who is a pig, is similar to their
previous owner whom they replaced. Eventually the farm’s original
motto — "All animals are equal" — is changed to "All animals are equal,
but some animals are more equal than others." At the end of the novel,
human farmers come to eat dinner along with Pilkington and the pigs
started to dress and behave like humans.

The book is a fable about rebellious farm animals. It deals with the
dangers of dictatorships (power), greed and corruption. Moreover, it’s an
allegory, contains a connotative meaning of political message about the
Russian Revolution and the Communist. The author wrote the story to
tell about the Russian Revolution. Animal Farm is a simple but powerful
story about the dangers of power and how things can go wrong when
leaders abuse their authority
The book is easy to read. It has hidden message. It teaches us about how
power can change people, how promises of equality can be broken, and
how leaders can take advantage of others. The message of the book is
timeless and still relevant today. It teaches important lessons about power
and negative effects of blindly following leaders. The story is an allegory,
meaning it uses animals to represent real people and events. The pigs
represent leaders like those in the Soviet Union, and the story shows how
power can corrupt even those who want to do well.
To sum up, the book ‘Animal Farm’ is compact, consisting of 88 pages.
It has third-person narration, and the language is easy to read. Animal
Farm is a noteworthy piece of literature from an educational perspective.
Though the story is about farm animals, it contains deeper meaning of
corruption and satire on politics.
