In his book, M.J. Akbar tells that when the partition of India was happening, it was the result of British Govt.” Direct Action Policy” and ” Divide and Rule”. Britishers gave birth to communal riot in India starting from Calcutta.
After independence, the fire ignited between communities and religions by Britishers took a violent mode. this gave rise to many inter caste war, religious hatred, etc. Many of the Mass riots were reported but, M.J.Akbar focuses on the massacres, riots and warfare between castes and communities which were unknown.
